🎓 Our First Graduating Class! 🎓

In the middle of a forgotten African bush village, a miracle has happened. Thirty students, once small children stepping into their first classroom with bright eyes and empty hands, now stood in caps and gowns, ready to step into the world. This was more than just a graduation—it was the fulfillment of a promise, a testimony of God’s unfailing love and faithfulness to a people in the middle of no where.

When we first arrived in Birikani and were given the opportunity to start a school, I clearly heard the Lord say, “I am going to build something here, you can be a part of it, or I will get the rocks to build themselves.” I knew God has something special for this place. For over 10 years, we have watched his faithfulness time and time again.

During graduation weekend, as families gathered to celebrate, some entered the church for the first time. The presence of Jesus was tangible. The Gospel was shared, not just in words but through the living witness of transformed lives. One student, overcome with the Lord's love, gave his life to Jesus during the celebration. Another Senior had surrendered her heart earlier in the year, her story a testimony of how this school has been more than just education—it has been an encounter with the living God.

These students are not just graduates; they are the first fruits of a movement of redemption. Once, many of them were vulnerable, sick and suffering from malnutrition. Now, they are stepping forward as leaders, dreamers, disciples. David, who started school at age 10, now dreams of becoming an engineer to build a better future for his community. Grace, inspired by the kindness she received, wants to be a nurse—to bring healing to those in need. They have been fed not only with food and education but with the truth that they are deeply loved, called, and chosen.

Parents, watching their children receive diplomas, saw the undeniable hand of God. Many had come skeptical, but as they sat in the church and listened, hearts softened. The same Jesus who had walked with their children through the years was calling them too. Seeds were planted. Some parents, for the first time, heard that they were seen, valued, and loved by a Father who has never left them.

What began as a simple “yes” to educate and disciple children has become something so much bigger. A school was built, a church was planted, a village was renamed from “the place of the mold”.

We know that none of this miracle would happen without the incredible community of supporters that surrounds Retouch. Every student that walked across the stage was made possible through the amazing individuals who give their prayers, time and finances to sew into Retouch.  We are a small part of a big community, and for that we are eternally grateful.

We celebrate this moment, but we also look ahead. This is only the beginning. There are more children waiting for sponsors, more dreams yet to be fulfilled, and more encounters with Jesus that will change everything. Thank you for walking with us, for believing, for giving, for praying.

The harvest is plentiful, and He is moving, thank you for joining with us.
